Seasonal Fragrances

Some fragrances lend themselves better to certain seasons.

What are seasonal fragrances and how can I tell them apart?

Each fragrance is made up of different notes and compositions, some of which are better suited to certain seasons as they can evoke specific feelings and associations. We have put together some helpful information on the type of scent that best accompanies in each of the seasons as well as some example notes. As ever, fragrance is subjective and these are just suggestions based on the traditional scents associated with each season.

1. Spring:

Sunshine, blue skies and blooming flowers. Spring fragrances are often fresh, light, and floral. Scents such as lilac, cherry blossoms, hyacinth, and jasmine play beautifully in to the spring feeling. In addition, you can also opt for scents with citrus notes like lemon, orange, and grapefruit for an extra hint of zest and a head start on summer.

2. Summer:

Summer fragrances are often light, fresh, and fruity. Scents such as coconut, mango, pineapple, and sea breeze bring a little more punch to those looking for something memorable and forthright. In contrast but also popular are fragrances with aquatic notes like ocean, sea salt and lotus which are perfect for warm summer days.

3. Autumn (Fall):

Contrasting the cold weather, Autumn fragrances are often warm, rich, and spicy. Scents such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and vanilla are the scents of choice while fragrances with woodsy notes like cedarwood, sandalwood, and patchouli also make for a great companion as the seasons change.

4. Winter:

Winter fragrances are often warm, cozy, and comforting, making peppermint, vanilla, and gingerbread firm favourites at this time of year. Musky and amber notes are also perfect for winter as their strength perfectly complements the comfort of the others.

While these are suggestions for seasons, it’s important to remember that the weather around the world associated with each season doesn’t necessarily align with these suggestions. As such, the application of each fragrance could be made depending on the weather instead. In this case the fragrances and scents of Spring would lend themselves to fresh but mild weather, Summer to warm and crisp and so on.
